Lekki Shooting: Soldiers Took Live Bullets to Scene for Self-defence – General Taiwo

Brigadier General Ahmed Taiwo, Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, which was the Army unit deployed to the Lekki Tollgate area on the night of October 20, has admitted that the officers went to the scene with Live and blank bullet. He said that the Phase four of military internal security operation which the Army deployed involved soldiers taking live ammunition to the scene for self defence. He noted that some officers that operated at the tollgate on the night of the shooting were indeed armed with live bullets. Lagos Govt. Unveils N5b Recovery Fund for Entrepreneurs

The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) has unveiled a N5 billion Lagos Economic Acceleration Programme (LEAP), a post-COVID-19 recovery programme for micro, small and medium enterprises. The launching, tagged: “From Pandemic to Prosperity”, was held in Ikeja, Lagos. LSETF Executive Secretary Mrs. Tejumola Abisoye said the intervention would provide access to affordable finance at single-digit interest to MSMEs, thereby saving existing businesses, jobs and also creating new job opportunities. Names of Seven ‘Lekki Shootings Victims’ Surface at Lagos Panel

The names of seven alleged victims of the October 20 Lekki shootings have ‘surfaced’ at the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters. Their lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika SAN, told the panel that he had a petition on their behalf against the Nigerian Army. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu  of Lagos State on Friday  unveiled Nigeria’s first locally-assembled full electric car, aimed at reducing pressure on use of petroleum. The Hyundai Kona car, manufactured by Stallion Group, is 100 per cent electric and comes with zero emission, 482km driving range and can be charged both at home and workplace. Officers of the Nigerian Army on Saturday appeared before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry Inaugurated to probe the shooting of peaceful #EndSaRS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate area of Lagos State on October 20. Speaking on behalf of the Army, Brigadier Ahmed Taiwo, Commander 81 military intelligence brigade which was reported to be unit deployed to the Lekki area claimed that the military fired shots into the air and not at protesters, backing its claim with several footages of what happened at the scene, Channels reports. Army Personnel Arrive Probe Venue, to Present Footage of Lekki Shootings

Army personnel attached to the 81 Division, have arrived the venue of the inquiry into the alleged shooting of peaceful #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate area of Lagos on October 20. The Army had submitted the names of three Lieutenant Generals and a Lieutenant Colonel who will testify before the panel in response to invitation by the retired Justice Doris Okuwobi-headed Judicial Panel of Inquiry, Punch reports. The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN has advised the courts to immediately release 253 persons arrested by the Police in connection with the #EndSARS protest in the state. The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, on Tuesday, visited Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House in Marina. Adamu during the visit lamented the degree of the damage caused by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protests against police brutality last month.
