Supreme Court Affirms Lawan As Yobe APC Senatorial Candidate

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has been affirmed by the supreme court as the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate for Yobe north. The apex court in a judgment delivered on Monday allowed the appeal filed by the APC against Bashir Machina’s candidature. In its judgment, three out of the five-member panel supported the position of the APC that the suit at the trial court not to have started through an originating summons since it contained allegations of fraud. Protesters converged at the gate of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday morning to express their disaffection over the present economic challenges in the country. INEC Announces Extension Of PVC Collection Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced an extension of the deadline for the collection of permanent voter cards, PVCs. This marks the second time the electoral umpire will extend the deadline for PVC collection. The collection was scheduled to stop on January 29. According to the national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye, the decision was reached after a meeting on Saturday.
