IGP Disowns Suit Challenging Judicial Panels, Orders Investigation

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances behind a suit allegedly filled at a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the various panels probing allegations of rights abuses against police officials. Reports had emerged of a suit seeking to among others, an order restraining the Attorney-General of the 36 states and the panels of inquiry they constituted, from continuing with investigations of the activities of the disbanded Special Ant-Robbery Squad (SARS). Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has disclosed that his government, in collaboration with security agencies, are on top of the worsening insecurity challenges facing the state. BREAKING: Seven Killed As Gunmen Attack Kaduna Community

Not less than seven people have died after gunmen stormed Ungwan Bido village in Jemaa Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday morning. Two children are also said to be missing after the attack. Samuel Aruwa, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the story to ChannelsTV, stating that the attackers burnt down four houses. The attack follows the alleged killing of a Fulani herdsman, Isiyaka Saidu, of Ungwan Pah village on Saturday. Explosion Hits Wike Father’s Church, Police Nab Suspects

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has nabbed three suspects for allegedly detonating explosives at a church, located at Mile 3, Diobu area of Port Harcourt. The church, Christian Universal Church International is reported to be owned by the father of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. The suspects numbering about five raided the church around 8 pm on Saturday, Punch reports. Local vigilante group in the area blockaded the gunmen’s escape route after noticing abnormal movements and interfered. Gunmen kill Ondo Monarch

Suspected kidnappers have killed a first-class traditional ruler in Ondo State, the Oluifon of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area, Oba Israel Adeusi. According to reports, Oba Adeusi was  shot about 5:50pm near Elegbeka village along the Benin-Akure highway while returning to his community after a meeting in Akure. Sources said he was confirmed dead at a private hospital where he was rushed to. It was gathered that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu canceled all his official engagements when he heard of the killing. The kidnappers were said to have also abducted two persons at the same spot. Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the killing, said all police divisions within the Ondo North axis have been mobilised to arrest the perpetrators.
