World Refugee Day: Red Cross, NCFRMI, SCORP organizes free medical outreach in Enugu

In commemoration of this year’s World Refugee Day, the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Enugu in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, and the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace, SCORP, University of Nigeria Medical Students Association have organized a free medical outreach for persons of concern in the state. The Red Cross Society in Enugu has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Imam of the Central mosque in the state to introduce and seek the collaboration of the Muslim community in addressing humanitarian challenges facing the state. Red Cross Trains Over 80 Volunteers on Safety, Security

Over 80 volunteers of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Enugu have been trained on volunteer safety and security, African News Today has gathered. The three-day event sponsored by the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, is aimed at increasing the access, acceptance, and security of the organisation’s volunteers as they respond to emergencies and humanitarian needs of the people of the state. The Nigerian Red Cross Society in Enugu State have sensitised women of Agulu, Umana community in Ezeagu Local Government Area (LGA) on safe pregnancy practices and hygiene promotion on the occasion of their just concluded annual August Conference. In an obvious attempt at showing Nigerians and the world that he is indeed fit, President Buhari today trekked the whole of 800 meters home. Buhari had gone to a mosque in his hometown Daura for Eid el-Kabir prayer after which he trekked home. The distance of the mosque to his home is about 800 meters. 800 meters is the about the same as walking up and down the length of a standard football pitch about four times. According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria, he was cheered on by well wisher with the chant of "sai baba".
