Police Calls on Lagosians to Ignore Calls for Fresh Protest at Lekki Toll Gate

Lagos state government and the Police on Thursday urged the people of state to shun calls for fresh protest slated for tomorrow at the Lekki Toll Gate. They said the fact that two groups scheduled protests for Lekki Toll Gate would cause confrontation, pandemonium, public disorder and wanton destruction of property. Clearing Agents Arrested as NDLEA Intercepts N32bn Worth of Cocaine at Lagos Port

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has recovered N32bn worth of cocaine at the Tincan Port in Lagos State. The cocaine was discovered in a consignment which arrived Nigeria from Brazil on board a vessel marked MV SPAR SCORPIO was placed on surveillance for some days before two clearing agents showed up on Monday to clear it. Speaking on the development, Sumaila Ethan, the commander of Tincan Port Command of the NDLEA, said the clearing agents were arrested, while the consignment was searched and the substance weighing 43.11kg was found in it. NDLEA Seizes Cocaine Worth N28bn From Hair Stylist, Others at Lagos Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, recovered cocaine worth N21bn from a hairstylist, identified as Jennifer Onyejegbu at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Reports say the operatives also discovered another drug confirmed to be cocaine worth N7bn in luggage abandoned at the E-arrival hall of the airport after the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian airline. It was gathered that information on the luggage tag suggest it arrived in Nigeria from Sao Paulo, Brazil, a destination classified as a high-risk country going by records and trends of arrest and seizures. Stop Giving “Juju” to Cult Members, Police Ask Traditionalists

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of police has cautioned traditionalists operating in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state to desist from strengthening cultists and criminals in the area with local charms, otherwise called juju in the country. This was contained in his speech during the 2021 Ikorodu Town Hall meeting on security on Wednesday. Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has signed the N147bn appropriation bill and the state anti-kidnapping bill into law. The House of Assembly in the state had raised the 2021 appropriation bill to over N147bn from the initial N133bn presented to it by Governor Lalong. The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two men, Damilare Oyeniyi and Emmanuel Okori, for allegedly gang-raping a 19-year-old teenager.
