Kidnapped Rivers NTA Reporter Regains Freedom

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the release of Mrs. Chidiebere Onyia, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Woji, Rivers State last Tuesday, by her kidnappers. Onyia, a nursing mother and an employee of the Nigeria Television Authority, Port Harcourt Zonal office, spent five days in captivity. The kidnappers had blocked her vehicle and taken her away, leaving her colleagues who were with her behind. Confirming the development, the spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement on Sunday, described Ovia’s release as a Valentine’s Day gift. Lagos CP Condemns Molestation of Lekki Protesters, Orders Probe

The Lagos State Police Command has condemned the inhumane act levelled against some individuals arrested during the protest at the Lekki tollgate area of the state on Saturday. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Sunday that the office-in-charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, DCP Adegoke Fayoade, had been ordered to analyse a trending video showing the arrested suspects being subjected to dehumanising conditions. Clearing Agents Arrested as NDLEA Intercepts N32bn Worth of Cocaine at Lagos Port

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has recovered N32bn worth of cocaine at the Tincan Port in Lagos State. The cocaine was discovered in a consignment which arrived Nigeria from Brazil on board a vessel marked MV SPAR SCORPIO was placed on surveillance for some days before two clearing agents showed up on Monday to clear it. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, recovered cocaine worth N21bn from a hairstylist, identified as Jennifer Onyejegbu at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Reports say the operatives also discovered another drug confirmed to be cocaine worth N7bn in luggage abandoned at the E-arrival hall of the airport after the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian airline. Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of police has cautioned traditionalists operating in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state to desist from strengthening cultists and criminals in the area with local charms, otherwise called juju in the country.
