Breaking: NIMC Shuts Head Office in Abuja

The National Identity Management Commission has closed its headquarters in Abuja against all National Identity Number enrolment activities. The move is not unconnected to discouraging large gatherings at the centre amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. According to NIMC Spokesman, Kayode Adegoke, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy gave the directive on Saturday. FUTA To Resume on January 18

Management of the Federal University of Technology (FUTA) Akure has fixed January 18 for the resumption of academic activities. A statement by the institution’s Deputy Director, Corporate Communications and Protocol, Adegbenro Adebanjo, said the decision to resume academic activities was reached at its Senate meeting last week. The statement urged all returning students to strictly adhere to all safety precautions, protocols and guidelines put in place by the university against COVID-19. Recruitment: NDLEA Releases List of Successful Applicants

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has released the list of successful applicants in its ongoing recruitment exercise. Principal Staff Officer, Public Affairs, Jonah Achema, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, said the candidates had applied for different cadre vacancies, some of which were invited for job competency test. First City Monument Bank Limited (FCMB) has appointed Yemisi Edun as its Acting Managing Director. Her appointment yesterday followed the decision of the Managing Director, Adam Nuhu, on Tuesday “to proceed on leave” to allow the Board investigate alleged unethical conduct accusation against him. The bank is probing allegations of unethical conduct against Nuru. The bank chief has been at the centre of a marriage scandal involving Moyo Thomas, a former employee of the bank, and his late husband, Tunde Thomas. Immigration Confirms Travel Restrictions on Erring Passengers

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has imposed six months travel restrictions on 100 passengers who violated the COVID 19 protocols. Its spokesman, Sunday James, said on Monday in Abuja that the restrictions were in line with the Federal Government’s directive on the passengers. He explained in a statement that the affected passengers have been notified and would be prevented accordingly from travelling outside the country. Sowore, Four others Arraigned in Abuja For Alleged Public Disturbance

The publisher of online platform, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has been arraigned with four others before a Magistrate’s Court in Wuse zone 2, Abuja by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Sowore,Juwon Sanyaolu, Damilare Adenola, Peter and Kimrere were by the the Special Weapons Tactical Team of NPF in Abuja over their alleged participation in a protest march on the eve of the New Year celebration. They were arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and public disturbance. Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has signed the 2021 Appropriation Bill into law. The Bill which was passed by Abia State House of Assembly during the Tuesday plenary session of the House was presented to the Governor by the Clerk of the House, Sir John Pedro Irokansi in his Aba residence on Tuesday night where he endorsed the N131,852,752,000.00 (One Hundred and Thirty One Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty Two Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand Naira Only) Budget made up of N69bn for capital expenditure and N62.8bn for recurrent expenditure.
