#EndSARS: Buratai, GOCs Meet over Protest

The top hierarchy of the Nigerian Army, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, General Officers Commanding (GOC) of the Divisions and Operation Commanders, are currently in a meeting where they are brainstorming on the recent threat to national security caused by the #EndSARS protests. The meeting is holding in the Army Conference Room at the Defence Headquarters and shortly before it went into closed session, Buratai condemned unnamed international organisations for threatening to issue travel bans to Military Officers over alleged violation of human rights. He disclosed that the conference will discuss current security challenges in the country.

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the postponement of the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination indefinitely. Jailbreak in Warri Prison as Inmates Escape amidst Shooting and Fire Outbreak

A yet-t0-be known number of prisoners have escaped the Nigerian Correctional Centre, commonly referred to as Okere Prison in Warri South council area of Delta State, amidst heavy shooting by security operatives. Flames and thick smoke are also emanating from the premises, fuelling fear among residents, most of whom have locked shops and scampered for safety. The cause of the fire is not clear, but confirmed reports claim that the thick smoke coming out of the premises of the correctional centre is as a result of the burning of tyres. No Jailbreak in Ikoyi Prisons, fire Contained – Officials

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Lagos has stated that the fire that broke out in a part of the Ikoyi Correctional Centre has been controlled. The service also dismissed fears there was a jailbreak in the facility, insisting that the fire only affected a part of the centre and did not involve inmates. Spokesman for the service in Lagos, Rotimi Oladokun said there was no cause for alarm, adding that a statement would be issued soon. He said: “There was fire on a part of the correctional centre but it has been contained. It did not affect the inmates in any way. There is no jail break and all is fine. BREAKING: Hoodlums Attack TVC in Lagos

Irate hoodlums have attacked Television Continental (TVC) headquarters in Lagos State on Wednesday (today). The thugs thronged the entrance of the Television station in Ikosi-Ketu area of Lagos and tried breaking in to the broadcast station. The attack on TVC, speculated to be owned by APC national leader, Bola Tinubu disrupted the broadcast of the station as programmes scheduled for Wednesday morning were delayed. The development comes after scores of #EndSARS protesters were killed on Tuesday by alleged security operatives in some parts of Lagos, notably at the Lekki Toll Gate. Some Nigerians have fingered Tinubu as one of the masterminds in the shooting of young Nigerians who are asking for an end to police brutality and reform of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

#ENDSARS: Edo State Government Declares a 24-Hour State-wide Curfew

A 24-hour curfew has been declared by the Godwin Obaseki led Edo state government. This curfew is to commence from 4pm today, the 19th of October across the state. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has announced the immediate dissolution of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) effective from Sunday, 11th October. He made the announcement around 1.30 pm at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He said the police unit is dissolved across all formations, the 36 state commands, and the Federal Capital Territory.
