Kyari Rejects Prison Food, Inmates Excited By Ex-IRT Boss Presence

Abba Kyari The embattled former Commander, Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, has rejected food offered him by the Nigerian Correctional Service after being remanded in prison custody on Monday. The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, it was learnt, opted for the food prepared by his wife or other family members. Kyari, who is under prosecution for drug trafficking alongside four other policemen, was denied bail by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency had in the charge before the court, accused Kyari and the other four officers of conspiracy, obstruction and dealing in cocaine worth 17.55kg. Court Orders Transfer Of DCP Abba Kyari, 6 Others To Prison Custody

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, ordered the transfer of the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, and six others that are facing drug trafficking charges with him, to the Kuje Correctional Center Trial Justice Emeka Nwike ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, to transfer the Defendants to prison custody, shortly after he denied them bail. The court held that the NDLEA placed sufficient materials before it to warrant the refusal of bail to Kyari and his Co-Defendants. Court Grants Abba Kyari Permission to Treat Diabetes, Others

Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, turned down the bail application filed by the detained former Commander of the Intelligence Response Team, Force Intelligence Bureau of the Nigeria Police Force, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari. Kyari is in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency over an alleged involvement in illicit drug business. Delivering judgment in the bail application, which was moved by his counsel, Cynthia Ikenna, the judge said the application had been overtaken by the order of the court given on February 22, which permitted the NDLEA to detain Kyari for another 14 days.
