NYSC Camps Won’t Be Closed If a COVID Case is Detected – NCDC

None of the 37 orientation camps of the National Youth Service Corps would be shut down should one corps member test positive to COVID-19, the Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said. According to him, prevention, detection and prompt response remained critical factors for the safe reopening of camps. He stated this ahead of the nationwide reopening of NYSC orientation camps on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has issued a directive to the management of workplaces, schools, and religious centres to ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols to curtail the spread of the disease. The Task Force, in a statement signed by Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, indicated that the directive became necessary following the discovery of a COVID-19 case in a tertiary institution in the state. #ENDSARS: Lagos State Govt. Sets up Panel of Enquiry for Victims

Lagos State Government has set up a panel of enquiry for victims of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) related abuses and Lekki Toll Gate incident. According to a press statement released by the Secretary, Lagos SARS Panel, Mr. Babajide Boys, members of the public are to submit memoranda at the public sitting of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution set up by the state government. According to Babajide, the new venue for the sitting is ‘Lagos Court of Arbitration, 1A Remi Oluwole St. 2 Roundabout, Lekki Expressway, Lekki Phase 1, Estate, Lagos. “Days of sitting include Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and the time of sitting is 10am – 4pm.” Memoranda submission can be done at the venue to the Registrar or through the email judicialpanelonsars @lagosstate.gov.ng.

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce no-face-mask-no-voting rule in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State. The PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu said this during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday. Aliyu expressed the determination of the taskforce to ensure that elections are conducted under safe environment.
