NDLEA Intercepts Bandits With AK-47 Rifles, 78 Rounds of Live Ammunition

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested here armed bandits on an alleged mission Katsina State. The suspects: Adamu Shehu, Tukur Mohammed, and Ibrahim Suleiman were reportedly in possession of three AK-47 rifles and other dangerous items. The NDLEA officials also arrested an alleged manufacturer of heavy weapons, Celestine Chidiebere Christian, with a high calibre G3 rifle, seventy-eight (78) rounds of life ammunition (RLA) of 7.62mm calibre, and five empty shells. The suspect was arrested in Benue while trying to move the heavy weapon and ammunition to Jos, Plateau State. The Department of State Services has said Yoruba rights activist Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho escaped when the secret police raided his Ibadan residence because there was a gun duel between DSS operatives and Igboho’s guards which lasted for an hour. The DSS also paraded 12 of Igboho’s followers in Abuja on Thursday, saying one other was being profiled. South-West Abuses Drug Most in Nigeria – NDLEA Boss

Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has said that the South-West and South-South rank top on the list of drug abuse cases in Nigeria. Marwa stated that there is a link between drug abuse and violent crimes such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping, adding that these vices would persist until drug abuse was tackled. He disclosed this in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Friday during the inauguration of a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts named ‘Behavioural Action Centre’, built by a group known as Ogbomoso First Initiative. 55 COVID-19 Regulation Violators Arrested in Abuja

Fifty-five persons were arraigned before an Abuja Mobile Court on Monday, for not wearing face masks. The violators were summarily tried and convicted by the presiding Magistrate, Ebiwari Eremasi, after pleading guilty to the charges. They were fined N2,000 each with an option of engaging in supervised community service. However, one of the convicts, who attempted to obstruct the court proceedings was remanded in a correctional facility. Kidnapped Rivers NTA Reporter Regains Freedom

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the release of Mrs. Chidiebere Onyia, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Woji, Rivers State last Tuesday, by her kidnappers. Onyia, a nursing mother and an employee of the Nigeria Television Authority, Port Harcourt Zonal office, spent five days in captivity. The kidnappers had blocked her vehicle and taken her away, leaving her colleagues who were with her behind.
