The main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has spoken against the abduction of the Government Science Secondary School, Kagara, Niger State, by bandits, who invade the school. Kidnapped Rivers NTA Reporter Regains Freedom

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the release of Mrs. Chidiebere Onyia, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Woji, Rivers State last Tuesday, by her kidnappers. Onyia, a nursing mother and an employee of the Nigeria Television Authority, Port Harcourt Zonal office, spent five days in captivity. The kidnappers had blocked her vehicle and taken her away, leaving her colleagues who were with her behind. Confirming the development, the spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement on Sunday, described Ovia’s release as a Valentine’s Day gift. Clearing Agents Arrested as NDLEA Intercepts N32bn Worth of Cocaine at Lagos Port

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has recovered N32bn worth of cocaine at the Tincan Port in Lagos State. The cocaine was discovered in a consignment which arrived Nigeria from Brazil on board a vessel marked MV SPAR SCORPIO was placed on surveillance for some days before two clearing agents showed up on Monday to clear it. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, included socialite Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, in an amended charge against an automobile dealer, Sarumi Babafemi, widely known as 606. The anti-graft agency arraigned Babafemi alongside his companies; 606 Autos Limited; 606 Music Limited; and Splash Off Entertainment Limited, on five counts before the Federal High Court in Lagos. Babafemi was accused of laundering a total of N207.1m between 2013 and 2018. Ogun Police Arrest Nine Suspected Land Grabbers

Men of Ogun State Police Command on Sunday arrested nine suspected members of a notorious land-grabbing syndicate for unleashing violence on the people of Agbogun village in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state. The suspects, Gbenga Odeniyi, Owolabi Shobayo, Michael Ramoni, Idowu Dauda, Femi Fadahunsi, Rasmus Hammed, Ade Lukman, Yakubu Akinwande and Sikiru Balogun were arrested following a tip-off. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, recovered cocaine worth N21bn from a hairstylist, identified as Jennifer Onyejegbu at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Reports say the operatives also discovered another drug confirmed to be cocaine worth N7bn in luggage abandoned at the E-arrival hall of the airport after the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian airline. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, recovered N75m from Halima Turaki, wife of former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, an operative of the commission identified as Bello Hamma-Adama told Justice Inyang Ekwo, of a Federal High Court in Abuja. During the Dr Goodluck Jonathan era, Taminu Turaki was a Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs between 2013 and 2015. Akeredolu Orders Massive Amotekun Recruitment

Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered massive recruitment into the State Security Network known as the Amotekun Corps in its second batch recruitment exercise. Akeredolu was the first to launch the Amotekun Corps last year in the South West region to help tackle criminal elements in the state. Categories of officers to be recruitment included regular officers, intelligence Corps and volunteers. Commander of the Corps, Chief Tunji Adeleye, in a statement said interested applicants must be between 20 and 70 years. The Amotekun Corps had helped to stem the tide of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
