FG Increases The Freight Rate For Petroleum Products By 25%

The Federal Government has enacted a 25% increase in the freight rate for petroleum products, raising it from N9.5 per litre to N11.87/litre, according to Alhaji Yusuf Othman, National President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO). Alhaji Othman, who revealed this at NARTO’s 22nd Annual General Meeting in Abuja yesterday, lamented that the benefit of the increase had been wiped out by the increase in diesel prices to N635 per litre. The crisis bedeviling the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) may have started yielding negative effects on the party as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rejected the nomination of Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as the Chairman of Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party. A self-confessed kidnapper in Adamawa State, Sadu Bunkawu, has rejected a share of N200,000 from a ransom of N12 million and reported his fellow gang members to the police. Describing his share as a product of high level of injustice, Bunkawu said he expects the police to correct the injustice.
