The police in Edo State on Wednesday paraded six suspects believed to have executed the killing of 100 level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Vera Omozuwa.
The Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo identified the suspects as Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Mrs Tina Samuel, Mrs Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe, Punch reports.
Late Uwaila was raped and sustained serious injury after she had gone to read in a church which led to her death in May.
According to the commissioner, “The matter is of great concern to the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, who sent homicide experts to work with our policemen in Benin.
“What we are seeing today is a result of the efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime, and today, I announce to you that the perpetrators have been arrested.”
“The postmortem results had actually confirmed that she was raped”, he said.
