LP Candidate Clinches Reps Poll in Anambra

Prof. Oby Orogbu, the candidate of the Labour Party for Awka North/South House of Representatives in Anambra State, has been declared the winner in the February 25 National Assembly election.

On Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, returning officer of the Awka North/South, declared Orogbu as the winner at the local government headquarters in Amawbia.

The LP candidate scored a total of 34,741 votes to defeat her closest opponent, Obi Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, who got 24,814 votes, and Emeka Igwe of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 12,850 votes.

The candidates of the Young Progressive Party polled 2,042 votes, All Progressives Congress, got 850 votes and Action Alliance polled 625 votes.

Iregbu, who lectures at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, while addressing journalists after being declared the winner, promised quality representation to her electorate.

She lamented the late arrival of electoral materials, which she stated disenfranchised so many individuals.

She said, “I will give my constituents quality representation.”
