Gunmen Ambush Bullion Van In Anambra

Gunmen ambushed a bullion van in Ufuma, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday.

Reports say the bullion van was attacked around 4:00 p.m while conveying cash to an undisclosed location. The gunmen followed and shot at the van and security personnel attached to the van.

The attack was confirmed by the police spokesperson in the State, deputy superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga, stating that it was a suspected armed robbery attack.

He said, “Police operatives attached to the bullion van gallantly repelled the attack.”

According to Ikenga, the force have commenced a manhunt for the attackers.

The police spokesperson said the police have recovered a Lexus and a Highlander SUVs belonging to the attackers. Other items recovered from the gunmen during police operation include one empty magazine, defaced bulletproof vest, and charms among other items.

Anambra has been witnessing increased gunmen attacks alongside other South-eastern states in recent times.

The attacks are usually directed at security personnel, government officials and facilities.
