Actors Guild Confirms Release Of Abducted Nollywood Stars

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has confirmed the safe release of its members, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel (Agbogidi), who were kidnapped while returning from a set in Enugu State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Guild’s Director of Communications, Monalisa Chinda Coker.

The statement partly read, “This is to inform the public that the kidnapped actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, have been released, unhurt. The elated National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Rollas, announced their release by the abductors who were touched by the spirit of God to set them free and unharmed.

“The guild has arranged for medical checks and psychological support for the victims.

“On behalf of their families, the National President expressed our heartfelt appreciation to the Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during this trying period.

“He urged members to be security conscious on and off movie sets and always take precautionary measures on their security at all times.”

The abductors of the Nollywood actors demanded $100,000.

According to the Guild’s National President, Ejezie Rollas, the sum could not be raised. He added that the kidnappers laughed off an offer of N1.2million.
