ASUU Strike Won’t Happen, Funds Are Available – Ngige

Chris Ngige, minister of labour, says the strike threatened by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will not take place. On Monday, ASUU issued a three-week ultimatum to the federal government to implement the earlier agreement reached with the union. Speaking on Tuesday in an interview on Channels Television, Ngige said funds are available for universities. “The strike will not happen. Super Eagles returnee Odion Ighalo has won the West Asia player of the month of October after his impressive performance for his Saudi Arabia club, Al-Shabab. Al-Shabab confirmed the win on their Instagram page before the Nigerian international also reshared on his social media pages. NYSC Kicks Over Feeding Allowance For Corps Members As Prisoners Get N1000

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on the federal government to increase its feeding allowance for corps members. Shuaibu Ibrahim, NYSC’s director-general (DG), spoke when he appeared before a house of representatives committee on youth development on Wednesday. Ibrahim said the extant N650 daily feeding allowance for corps members is “grossly inadequate,” adding that with the arrangement, they only get a meal worth N216. The NYSC DG called on the committee to raise the scheme’s feeding allocation in the 2022 budget. EFCC Confirms Army’s Handover Of 20 Arrested TASUED Students For Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the handover of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) students arrested by the Nigerian Army, Newspremises reports. The officers of the 12 Field Engineering Regiment in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, took the 20 suspected internet fraudsters to EFCC Ibadan zonal command, where they handed them to the officials. The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by the Nigerian Army at Ijagun, Odogbolu area of Ogun state. Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has said it is not a crime to demand self-determination as it is a way to create new countries. The lawyer also disclosed that IPOB is neither a terrorist nor a violent group, adding that a terrorist organisation does not have addresses across the world. A mass communication student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, identified simply as Chidinma, has reportedly stabbed her boyfriend, Daniel Johnson, over WhatsApp chats with another female friend. CBN Introduces N500m Grant For Undergraduates, Graduates

The Central Bank of Nigeria has said it will support youths in tertiary institutions with grants to promote entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment. The CBN disclosed this on Wednesday in a report, titled ‘Guidelines for the implementation of tertiary institutions entrepreneurship scheme’. “Five top Nigerian polytechnics and universities with the best entrepreneurial pitches/ideas shall be awarded as follows: first place – N150m; second place – N120m; third place – N100m; fourth place – N80m; and fifth place – N50m,” it said.
