The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in Nigeria due to circumstances beyond their control. Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, who made this known in a statement, said the examination commences by Monday, November 30, 2020. NYSC Camps Won’t Be Closed If a COVID Case is Detected – NCDC

None of the 37 orientation camps of the National Youth Service Corps would be shut down should one corps member test positive to COVID-19, the Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said. According to him, prevention, detection and prompt response remained critical factors for the safe reopening of camps. Youth Investment Fund: Beneficiaries to be Given N250,000 – N5m – Finance Minister

The Federal Government has said that beneficiaries of the N75bn Nigeria Youth Intervention Fund (NYIF) will be given between N250,000 to N5m. This was disclosed by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed on Saturday. Ahmed had previously noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration created a youth fund of N25bn as part of measures to tackle the #EndSARS protests and other related youth agitations in the country. The minister stated that the Federal Government would increase the fund to N75bn within a three years period. Breaking: Violence Erupts in Abakaliki

Abakaliki, the state capital of Ebonyi State has once again erupted in violence as gunshots rent the air in major parts of the city. The violence which began around 3pm caused panic in the city as residents scampered for safety. It was unclear where the gunshots were coming from or who was firing but reports circulating online said the Central Police Station Onuebonyi has been set ablaze by suspected hoodlums. Police and other security agencies were also reported to be engaging the hoodlums in a gun duel at the time of filling the report.
