Nigerians To Pay More For Bread As Russia-Ukraine War RagesĀ 

The price of bread, one of the most commonly eaten staples in most Nigerian homes is set to rise if the current Russian-Ukrainian war persists. Russia is the worldā€™s largest exporter of wheat, accounting for more than 18 percent of international exports. The downside to the war is that if supply from Russia is distorted for whatever reason, Nigeria could be faced with further surging wheat prices in its local market as a result of the supply gap, which could lead to an increase in the price of some other by-products of wheat, such as bread, wheat meal amongst others. Bandits Shoot Zamfara Lawmaker Dead

A member of the Zamfara House of Assembly, Mohammed Ahmed, has been shot dead by bandits along Sheme- Funtua Road in Katsina State. Announcing his death, the Clerk of the Zamfara House House of Assembly,Ā  Saidu Anka, said Ahmed was traveling to his town when he was killed by the bandits. Seven Soldiers Killed in Clash With Unknown Gunmen in Abia Community

Soldiers of 14 Brigade, Army Headquarters, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, who invaded Ohafia in the Ohafia Local Government of Abia State in search of gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have burnt down several houses in the area. A source who spoke with SaharaReporters on Sunday said a lot of residents and indigenes of Elu, Amangwu, Ebem and Ohafia fled their communities to neighbouring villages due to the constant invasion. Some angry traders at the popular Umuahia Timber Market, Abia State, yesterday set ablaze the office of the state Vigilante Service (AVGS) aka ā€œBakassi Boysā€ situated within the market. Our correspondent gathered that the traders burnt down the AVGS office after the Bakassi boys killed a trader early yesterday. Police Confirm Killing of DSS Official by Soldiers in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the killing of an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) by three soldiers. The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Sunday Abutu, described the killing as unfortunate and mindless. Abutu said the gory incident occurred on Friday evening at a hotel located on NTA Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital during an argument that ensued between some soldiers and a DSS official, leading to the death of the latter. He noted that the Command had begun investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, adding that the deceasedā€™s corpse had been deposited in the morgue. A divisional police station in Awka has been attacked by unknown gunmen. Eyewitnesses say an unconfirmed number of police officers were killed. The attack which lasted more than an hour had residents scampering for safety. There hasn't been an official statement by Anambra state police command.
