Mob vandalises Akwa Ibom alleged Serial Rapist’s House, ‘arrests’ Father

Youths from Nnung Ikono Obio in the Oruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday, stormed the family house of Uduak Akpan, the prime suspect in the murder of a jobseeker, Iniubong Umoren, and vandalised it. It was gathered that the youth took the action after setting ablaze the security post of the one-storey building. Sources told one of our correspondents that the youth carted away all the properties in the building and took the father of the suspected killer to the police. “They broke the windows and the glass doors with pebbles and sticks, and carted away everything in the building,” the source said. Gunmen Kill 3 Custom Personnel in Rivers, Raid Military Checkpoint

Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed three officials of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in Isiokpo community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. Prior to killing the NCS operatives, attacked a military checkpoint within Omuaga axis of Elele-Owerre, close to the Port Harcourt International Airport, Daily Post reports. Reports say the assailants destroyed the checkpoint and other properties in the area. “The incident happened at 12 midnight when the armed hoodlums stormed a checkpoint manned by customs officials in Isiokpo and killed their victims, burnt down cars and went away without any interference,” said a source who is a resident of Isiokpo community. Mohammad Dingyadi, Minister of Police Affairs has said the Imo State Police Command was overrun by gunmen because they deployed their full arsenal and came in large numbers. There is currently tension in Aba commercial town in Abia State, over sounds of gunshots at the police area command, Daily Trust reports. Residents were going about their normal activities when suddenly security operatives started shooting sporadically. Some unknown gunmen have invaded the Mbieri Divisional Police Headquarters in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. The attack occurred around 1 am and the gunmen released the suspects in custody in the police facility, Punch reports. The Nigerian Correctional Service has disclosed that six inmates returned voluntarily while 35 others declined to escape from custody after the prison in Owerri, Imo State was attacked by gunmen on Monday. How Gunmen Freed Scores of Inmates at Imo Prison

Thousands of inmates have been reportedly freed at the headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS, Owerri the Imo State capital by a yet to be identified gunmen in the wee hours of Monday. The assailants also stormed the nearby office of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the state police command, releasing suspects there as well. Prisoners Set Free as Gunmen Set Owerri Prison Ablaze (Video)

A yet to be identified gunmen invaded and set ablaze the correctional facility in Owerri, the Imo State capital in the early hours of Monday. The assailants stormed the prison and set free n unconfirmed number of inmates and suspects. There was reported gunshots around the area. Gunmen Kill Six in Osun

Some yet to be identified gunmen killed six people in the wee hours of Sunday in a village near Wasinmi, a community along Ife/Ibadan way, Osun State. Though the identities of the killers could not be obtained at the point of filing this report, police operatives, men of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, and Hunters Group of Nigeria were said to have been deployed in the bush in the area. The incident was confirmed by the Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, noting all the deceased were members of the same family, Punch reports. Opalola noted the state Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, had visited the scene of the incident.
