Retired Police Officer Shouldn’t Be Appointed As PSC Chair – Obasanjo

Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that individuals that retired as police officers should not be considered for appointment as chair of the Police Service Commission, PSC. Recall that the senate had in January 2023 confirmed retired inspector-general of the police, IGP, Solomon Arase, as substantive chair of the PSC after President Muhammadu Buhari asked the red chamber to confirm him in line with provisions of section 153 (1) and 154 (1) of the constitution as amended.   Before Arase was appointed, Musiliu Smith, a former IG, served as chair of the PSC. ‘PDP Has Brought Us Shame’ – Ayu Criticizes His Party

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, on Thursday said ‘the PDP has brought us shame'. NBC Okays 67 New Radio, TV Stations

The Federal Government has ratified 67 new broadcast licences for radio and television stations nationwide. This was disclosed by the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mallam Balarabe Ilelah on Thursday. Ilelah urged broadcasters not to relent abiding by the NBC Act, the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, the Electoral Act, and any extant law that guides media operations to ensure that the general election is free, fair, and credible. The development comes less than three months to the end of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. Critics label it a parting gift from the Buhari administration. A man identified as Ibrahim Dauda, has reportedly killed his brother, Tunde, during a fight over N1,000 at their residence on Amusa street, off Community Road, in the Obadore area of Igando, Lagos State. According to Punch Metro, the brothers were at home when an argument involving N1,000 started between them. The argument culminated in the brothers engaging in fisticuffs, during which Ibrahim ran into the house and reached for an iron rod.
