LAGESC Displaces Street Traders, Hawkers in Iyana-Ipaja, Ikeja, Dopemu, Others

Officers of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) have embarked on an enforcement raid aimed at displacing and immobilising street traders and hawkers around Iyana-Ipaja, Ikeja and Dopemu axis where roads were obstructed. The operation sanctioned by the new Corps Marshall, Akinpelu Gbemisola, a retired Commissioner of Police, was led by Deputy Corps Marshal (Operations), Mr Kazeem Ganiyu and also accompanied by the Deputy Corps Marshal (Staff and Discipline), Alhaji Adeleke Adeesan, traversed the Iyana Ipaja axis of the state. The Lagos State Sports Commission, LSSC, has conducted screening for all Athletes who will represent the State at the forthcoming Fifth National Youth Games holding in Ilorin, Kwara State from 7th to 17th September 2019. The exercise, which took place inside the main bowl of the Teslim Balogun Stadium and conducted by LSSC and some of the Sports Associations’ Officials, was embarked upon to ensure that only eligible athletes from Lagos participate in the multi-games competition. The Lagos State House Assembly on Tuesday has set-up a committee to investigate the purchase of 820 buses by the administration of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode of the state. The House stated this during a plenary that it was important to investigate the purchase of the 820 buses out of the 5,000 buses proposed by former governor Akinwunmi Ambode for mass transit in the state, but which was purchased despite objection by the House of Assembly.
