Nine Ghanaians Jailed For Cannabis Smuggling Into Nigeria

Nine Ghanaians have been sentenced to eight years imprisonment each by the federal high court in Laos for attempting to smuggle cannabis into Nigeria. This was confirmed by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement released on Sunday, noting that the convicts identified as Victor Wuddah, Freeman Gazul, Adotete Joseph, Sottie Moses, Sottie Stephen, Christian Tette, Kanu Okonipa, Daniel Koyepti, and Kanu Natte — were sentenced on Friday. NDLEA Destroys N2Billion Worth of Illicit Drugs in Akwa Ibom

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, revealed about N2 billion worth of illicit drugs has been destroyed by the agency between 2014 and September 2021 in Akwa Ibom. Court Strikes Out Kyari’s Suit Against NDLEA

A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, dismissed a fundamental enforcement rights suit filed by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the suit after counsel for the NDLEA, Joseph Sunday, prayed the court that the matter be struck out. When the matter was called, Cynthia Ikena, lawyer to Kyari, was absent. Sunday, NDLEA’s Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, urged the court to strike out the suit. Justice Ekwo said he was informed that Ikena sent a letter, praying the court for an adjournment. But the letter was not filed by the lawyer and therefore not in compliance with the court rule.
