Tweep Remanded In Prison For Criticizing Aisha Buhari

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court on Tuesday remanded a 500-level student of the Federal University, Dutse, Aminu Muhammad, in a custodial centre for allegedly criticing the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari. The 24-year-old was accused of tweeting against the first lady of Nigeria. Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation, has stated that the Federal Government is not convinced to free the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, despite a court judgment that acquitted and discharged him. The Supreme Court on Friday declared the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2023 election. Sheriff who is believed to be backed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been involved in a legal battle with Mr David Edevbie, believed to be supported by former governor, James Ibori. Nnamdi Kanu’s Counsels Serve DSS, Malami Appeal Court Ruling

Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team has served copies of the judgment of the Court of Appeal that freed the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on the Department of State Services and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN. Kanu’s counsels said that with the handover of the court order, the Federal Government is left with no choice but to free Kano from detention. Nine Ghanaians Jailed For Cannabis Smuggling Into Nigeria

Nine Ghanaians have been sentenced to eight years imprisonment each by the federal high court in Laos for attempting to smuggle cannabis into Nigeria. This was confirmed by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement released on Sunday, noting that the convicts identified as Victor Wuddah, Freeman Gazul, Adotete Joseph, Sottie Moses, Sottie Stephen, Christian Tette, Kanu Okonipa, Daniel Koyepti, and Kanu Natte — were sentenced on Friday. This was decided at the National Security Council, NSC, meeting president by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday at the State House, Abuja. An Abuja federal high court has dismissed a suit by the federal government asking to extradite suspended deputy commissioner of police, DCP, Abba Kyari, to the United States to face charges. The suspended DCP is wanted in the US over alleged conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. Inyang Ekwo while delivering judgment on Monday adjudged the suit filed by the office of the attorney-general of the federation was competent and bereft of merit.
