Implementation of New Electricity Tariff to Resume Next Week

Special adviser to the president on infrastrure, Ahmed Zakari has said that electricity distribution companies (DiscCos) will resume implementation of the new electricity tariff next week. A news service-based reflective tariff (SRT) structure was implemented on September 1 by the DisCos after approval by President Muhammadu Buhari. The new tariff was halted after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) kicked against the hike. Return to Duty Post or Risk Dismissal, PSC Warns Policemen Reluctant to Return to Post

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has sounded a note of warning to some officers of the force who are reluctant to return to their duty posts following the violence which erupted during the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest resulting in the killing of over 22 officers. The PSC while urging the officers to put the killing behind them, stated that Public Service Rules which also applies to officers of the Nigeria Police Force, stipulates dismissal for any officer that absconds from duty. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed new Media Officers for the country’s men and women senior football teams. This was contained in a statement by the football body’s Director of Media and Communications, Ademola Olajire on Tuesday in Abuja. According to the statement, NFF appointed Babafemi Raji as Super Eagles Media Officer and Oluchi Tobe-Chukwu as Super Falcons Media head. Motorists Lament as Petrol Scarcity Rocks Abuja (Photos)

There has been scarcity of Premium Motor Spirt (PMS) popularly known as petrol in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja as long queues were seen at most filling stations in the city, African News Today reports. Motorists in FCT have had to spend several hours in the queue to buy petrol for their cars. The queues started on Tuesday, October 27 across the capital city and its environs. Our correspondent who visited filling stations experienced long queue in most of them while some were totally shutdown. Roadside sellers popularly known as black market sellers were seen by the roadside selling petrol at exorbitant prices while stranded motorists were forced to patronize them.
