Nigerian Man, Omotola Hassan Arrested With Cocaine In India

The Pune police have arrested a Nigerian man for possession of cocaine valued at ₹4 lakh, in Kondhwan on Wednesday. The alleged peddler was identified as Shamsuddin Omotola Hassan, aged 48, SaharaReporters reports. Police say the Lagos State indigene intended to sell the drugs. Authorities valued the drugs in his possession at about ₹4,16,000. Along with the drugs, the police found five mobile phones worth ₹15,000; one Yamaha motorcycle worth ₹50,000; the cash of ₹20,000; and a weighing scale worth ₹1,000. The total seizure was estimated to be worth ₹5,02,000. The 48-year-old was found at the gate of Brookefield Society when the crime branch officials were patrolling the Kondhwa area at 2:50 am on Wednesday.

Teenage Girl kills Brother During Fight in Ondo

A teenager identified as Idowu Biletiri Ruth has stabbed her elder brother to death for reportedly questioning her movement. The incident happened at Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. Witnesses said Ruth, aged 18, was peeved after brother questioned her for sleeping outside the previous day. The witness said the suspect picked a kitchen knife after an argument and stabbed her brother. The brother was said to have died after a few minutes. Gunmen caused pandemonium in Imo State as they razed the Isiala Mbano Police Divisional Headquarters situated at Umuelemai in Imo State on Saturday night. The assailants invaded the armoury and freed suspects in the detention facility and took away arms. South-West Abuses Drug Most in Nigeria – NDLEA Boss

Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has said that the South-West and South-South rank top on the list of drug abuse cases in Nigeria. Marwa stated that there is a link between drug abuse and violent crimes such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping, adding that these vices would persist until drug abuse was tackled. Gunmen Kill Six in Osun

Some yet to be identified gunmen killed six people in the wee hours of Sunday in a village near Wasinmi, a community along Ife/Ibadan way, Osun State. Though the identities of the killers could not be obtained at the point of filing this report, police operatives, men of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, and Hunters Group of Nigeria were said to have been deployed in the bush in the area. The incident was confirmed by the Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, noting all the deceased were members of the same family, Punch reports. Breaking: Supreme Court Upholds Ex-Plateau Gov Dariye’s 10-Year Jail Sentence

The Supreme Court has upheld a criminal breach of trust brought up against jailed former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye. The former governor has approached the court to overturn the November 16, 2018 judgement of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which found him culpable and sentenced him to 10 years for diverting public funds estimated at N1.162 billion while he was the Governor of Plateau. The apex court on Friday upheld the 10-year jail term imposed on Dariye upon his conviction on the charge of criminal breach of trust. It, however, set aside the charge that alleged misappropriation of fund, which prescribed a two-year sentence for Dariye.

Tragedy struck in the Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, Sokoto State as a second year National Diploma (ND) student of the institution, Miss Zainab Bisola  Owoade, was allegedly stabbed to death by her course mate and roommate. The suspect, Nafeesat Yekini, reportedly ended the life of Owoade untimely by stabbing her with a knife during an argument in their hostel. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has imposed a curfew on the Oruku Community, in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the State.
