Breaking: Supreme Court Upholds Ex-Plateau Gov Dariye’s 10-Year Jail Sentence

The Supreme Court has upheld a criminal breach of trust brought up against jailed former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye. The former governor has approached the court to overturn the November 16, 2018 judgement of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which found him culpable and sentenced him to 10 years for diverting public funds estimated at N1.162 billion while he was the Governor of Plateau. The apex court on Friday upheld the 10-year jail term imposed on Dariye upon his conviction on the charge of criminal breach of trust. It, however, set aside the charge that alleged misappropriation of fund, which prescribed a two-year sentence for Dariye.

Gunmen abduct Female Students in Kaduna

Suspected bandits have abducted unspecified number of female students of The Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando area of Kaduna State. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige confirmed the incident. He said the exact number of students abducted is unknown. “They were abducted last night, we have no details of the number of students,” ASP Jalige said. He said the Police was working with the Army to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students. According to the BBC, a witness said half of the female students were taken but not a single male was abducted. Gunmen abduct Teachers, Students in Edo

Gunmen on Wednesday night invaded the National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi, Esan Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State and abducted yet-to-be-ascertained number of teachers and students. According to a report by The Nation, the kidnappers invaded the institute on Wednesday night, amid sporadic gunshots. The development, it was gathered heightened tension in the area, with parents and guardians storming the institute to ascertain the whereabouts of their children and wards. Edo state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bello Kontongs, a Superintendent of Police (SP), confirmed the incident, but said he was awaiting the details from the commander of anti-kidnapping unit of the state’s police command.

Lawyer Who Filed Case Against Pastor Adeyemi, Davido, Falz, 47 Others Is Fake – NBA

A lawyer, Kenechukwu Okeke, who filed a criminal complaint before an Abuja Magistrate Court over the actions of 50 persons, including celebrities during the October 2020 EndSARS struggles, has been confirmed to be fake and never called to the bar. The Nigerian Bar Association confirmed on Monday that Okeke was fake and not on the list of directory of lawyers in Nigeria. There was panic in Imo state Thursday night as hoodlums set the Aboh Mbaise Divisional Police Headquarters ablaze. It was gathered that the policemen on duty fled as the hoodlums who were mobile carried out the arson on the facility.
