Obaseki, Shuaibu Inaugurated For Second Term

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, were on Thursday inaugurated for a second term in office. The ceremony was held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital. The Oath of Office was administered by Chief Judge of the state, Justice Esther Edigin. Dignitaries in attendance include governors of the Peoples Democratic Party like Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; among others. Governor Obaseki won the gubernatorial elections under the platform of the PDP.

WAEC Shifts WASSCE For Private Candidates To Nov 30

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in Nigeria due to circumstances beyond their control. Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, who made this known in a statement, said the examination commences by Monday, November 30, 2020. #EndSARS: IGP Visits Sanwo-Olu

The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, on Tuesday, visited Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House in Marina. Adamu during the visit lamented the degree of the damage caused by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protests against police brutality last month. Briefing reporters, the IGP said he was in the state for an assessment of the police assets vandalised after the protest and to commiserate with residents. According to the government, six police officers were lynched in Lagos, 36 critically injured, while 46 police stations were torched. NCC Approves e-SIM Trial for MTN, 9mobile

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it has granted approval for two mobile network operators (MNOs), MTN Nigeria and 9Mobile, to carry out trial on the workability of embedded Subscriber Identification Modules (e-SIM) Service in Nigeria. The regulatory body added that the trial would run for a period of one year, noting that it would involve testing 5,000 e-SIMs by the two networks. A statement by the Public Affairs Director of NCC, Dr Ikechukwu Adinde said the trial is subject to compliance with a number of regulatory conditions. Dr Adinde announced that the conditions include full compliance by the MNOs with the Registration of Telecoms Subscribers Regulations 2011; the Mobile Number Portability Regulations and Business Rules 2015. WAEC Releases Results, Withholds Results of 215,149 Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday released the 2020 SSCE results. It also disclosed that it has withheld the results of 215, 149 candidates who wrote the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Nigeria. The council said the results of the candidates are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. Patrick Areghan, head of WAEC Nigeria, broke the news at a briefing in Lagos on Monday morning while announcing the official release of this year’s WASSCE results. WAEC to Release 2020 SSCE Results on Monday November 2nd 2020

The West African Examinations Council has disclosed that the results of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released on Monday, November 2, 2020. While giving an update on Sunday, WAEC tweeted, “This is to inform candidates that sat West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2020 that the results of that exam will be released by @waecnigeria tomorrow, Monday, November 2, 2020 by 10:30am.”

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Mr Ahmad Ahmad has tested positive for COVID-19. A statement on the website of the continental football governing body on Friday read:”the president after his arrival to Cairo on Oct. 28, presented mild flu symptoms and submitted to the COVID-19 protocol. ”Today, the test results are positive and the president immediately self-isolate for at least the next 14 days at his hotel. ”All those who have come into contact with Ahmad over the past seven days, especially during his trip to Morocco for the Confederation Cup, have been informed and requested to take the necessary measures.”

COVID-19: Nigeria’s Economy too Fragile for Fresh Lockdown —Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria’s economy is too fragile to enforce a fresh COVID-19 lockdown. He however, called on Nigerians to obey all protocols recommended by health authorities to curtail the spread of the lethal coronavirus. The coach of Nigeria's super eagles Gernot Rohr has submitted the list of players who will feature in the AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone on November 13. Breaking: Violence Erupts in Abakaliki

Abakaliki, the state capital of Ebonyi State has once again erupted in violence as gunshots rent the air in major parts of the city. The violence which began around 3pm caused panic in the city as residents scampered for safety. It was unclear where the gunshots were coming from or who was firing but reports circulating online said the Central Police Station Onuebonyi has been set ablaze by suspected hoodlums. Police and other security agencies were also reported to be engaging the hoodlums in a gun duel at the time of filling the report.
