Gunmen kill Ondo Monarch

Suspected kidnappers have killed a first-class traditional ruler in Ondo State, the Oluifon of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area, Oba Israel Adeusi. According to reports, Oba Adeusi was  shot about 5:50pm near Elegbeka village along the Benin-Akure highway while returning to his community after a meeting in Akure. Sources said he was confirmed dead at a private hospital where he was rushed to. It was gathered that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu canceled all his official engagements when he heard of the killing. The kidnappers were said to have also abducted two persons at the same spot. Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the killing, said all police divisions within the Ondo North axis have been mobilised to arrest the perpetrators.

Governor Umahi Dissolves State Varsity’s Governing Council

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has dissolved the Governing Councils of the State University and College of Education. The Boards are headed by Franklin Ogbuewu and a former Minister of State for Health, Fidelis Nwankwo. Umahi also sacked 16 more aides from various local governments. The dissolution was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Kenneth Ugbala. He said the dissolution was to enthrone efficiency in service delivery. A 100 level student of Osun State University, Ikire campus Juba Orisajafor on Tuesday drank poison and died few hours he preached against suicide on his WhatsApp status. It was gathered that Orisajafor on Tuesday morning around updated his WhatsApp status, condemning suicide. His post on WhatsApp reads: “Often time I ask myself, Why do people commit suicide? 138 NYSC Members Test Positive for COVID-19 —NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday  disclosed that a total of 138 members of the National Youth Service Corps have tested positive for COVID-19. Disclosing this during the briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, the NDDC Director-General, Chikwe Ihekweazu, said the safe reopening of the NYSC orientation camps across the country was successful. He stated that none of those who tested positive was allowed into the camps. Student Union Leader Killed by Gunmen in Kaduna

A  student union leader in one of the institutions in Kaduna, Comrade Auwal Rabiu, has been confirmed killed, as gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked motorists on the road linking the Kaduna international airport and the Rigasa station of the Kaduna-Abuja train. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has started consultations with all of its members to confirm the status of the industrial action. According to The Nation, the National President of the union, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi confirmed this in an interview. Ogunyemi said: “We are consulting with our organs. When we have new information we will share it. “We are reporting back to the government on Friday.
