Commercial Banks in Ekiti Town Shut Down Over Police Withdrawal

Commercial banks in Ikere-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ikere Council Area of Ekiti State on Tuesday shut down operations following the alleged withdrawal of service by policemen. According to a report by The Nation, financial institutions as well as Point of Terminal(POS) outlets were under lock and key due to fear of being attacked over alleged absence of policemen. Findings also indicated that there had been no police officer in the town following the burning of two police stations and destruction of the Area Command by hoodlums during the #ENDSARS protests. The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN has advised the courts to immediately release 253 persons arrested by the Police in connection with the #EndSARS protest in the state. The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Muhammad Abubakar Adamu on Thursday said social media was the a vital weapon used in escalating the #EndSars protests that rocked the states of the federation. The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, on Tuesday, visited Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the State House in Marina.
