Owo Massacre: Tears at Funeral Mass for Victims

Victims of the Owo massacre that took place about 13 days ago are to be laid to rest today. A funeral mass for the victims took place today at the Mydas Resort, Owo and had in attendance Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state along with many other dignitaries. Expectedly, there was a huge turnout of people who, either came to pay their last respects or to simply witness the event. Suspected Islamists Kill At Least 18 In East Congo Attack

Suspected Islamists killed at least 18 people in a village raid in eastern Congo on Sunday night, local sources said, while fighting resumed with the M23 rebel group in a neighbouring province. Fighters believed to be from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) killed residents and burned down houses in the village of Otomabere, in Irumu territory, Ituri province, said a witness, a local chief and a local human rights group. Congolese army spokesman Jules Ngongo confirmed the ADF attack without giving a death toll, and said Congolese forces were in pursuit of the assailants. Armed men kidnapped an Italian couple and their son in southern Mali overnight, their church said on Friday, as violence spreads in a country ravaged by an Islamist insurgency. Two Bombers Allegedly Killed In Imo Oil Firm Blast

NPF Two persons have been confirmed dead after an explosive device went off at an oil firm in Imo State. The incident happened on Wednesday at Addax Oil Company in Izombe community of Oguta Local Government Area. Less than two weeks ago, an explosion at an illegal refinery site at Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area killed about 150 people. A local source told our correspondent that the two victims of the blast were suspected terrorists, who attempted to bomb the oil company but detonated the bomb which exploded and killed them.
