Victims of the Owo massacre that took place about 13 days ago are to be laid to rest today. A funeral mass for the victims took place today at the Mydas Resort, Owo and had in attendance Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state along with many other dignitaries.
Expectedly, there was a huge turnout of people who, either came to pay their last respects or to simply witness the event.
It will be recalled that on the 5th of June 2022, at least 40 worshippers were killed when gunmen invaded the premises of St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, opening fire on the worshippers.
The attack has heightened security concerns in the entire South-west, with places of worship now beefing up their security to prevent a recurrence.
