Don’t Rely on Politicians to Defend Your Territories, Kanu Warns S’West Youths

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has asked Yoruba youths to defend their land and forests against gunmen attacks. Kanu alleged that politicians could not defend the South-west if the youths rely solely on them for security. The IPOB leader in a statement issued by the groups’ Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, reminded the Yoruba youths that southwest governors did nothing when herdsmen kidnapped and killed a Yoruba leader, Pa Fasoranti's daughter on Yoruba soil. He urged the youth to emulate the Eastern youths who formed the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and take their destiny in their hands. Akeredolu Orders Massive Amotekun Recruitment

Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered massive recruitment into the State Security Network known as the Amotekun Corps in its second batch recruitment exercise. Akeredolu was the first to launch the Amotekun Corps last year in the South West region to help tackle criminal elements in the state. Categories of officers to be recruitment included regular officers, intelligence Corps and volunteers. Commander of the Corps, Chief Tunji Adeleye, in a statement said interested applicants must be between 20 and 70 years. The Amotekun Corps had helped to stem the tide of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

The Anambra State Police Command has paraded fourteen males suspects who are engaged in illegal revenue collection and armed robbery in different parts of Onitsha. The suspects who were paraded at the Police Area Command Headquarters, Onitsha, were arrested in separate raids by the command's patrol team. Among the fourteen suspects were two teenagers, who were arrested separately at Nkpor Junction and Awada Obosi while robbing people of their belongings with a make-shift gun at night. The Presidency has faulted the seven-day ultimatum issued to herdsmen by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, to vacate forest reserve, urging him not to act outside the constitution of the country. The governor had in a statement on Monday issued herdsmen seven days to leave all forest reserves in the state due to high spate of kidnapping in the state. The Ogun State Government has said that the full operation of the South West Security Outfit, codenamed Amotekun, will ensure that lives and property in the state, particularly in remote areas, are secured.
