Stop Giving “Juju” to Cult Members, Police Ask Traditionalists

Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of police has cautioned traditionalists operating in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state to desist from strengthening cultists and criminals in the area with local charms, otherwise called juju in the country. This was contained in his speech during the 2021 Ikorodu Town Hall meeting on security on Wednesday. The commissioner said the state had enjoyed appreciable peace except in some areas like Ikorodu with a high rate of vices such as cultism, gangsterism, traffic robbery, ritual killings, amongst others. The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho, over an eviction order on Fulanis in Oyo State. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed this in an interview with BBC Hausa. Akeredolu Orders Massive Amotekun Recruitment

Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has ordered massive recruitment into the State Security Network known as the Amotekun Corps in its second batch recruitment exercise. Akeredolu was the first to launch the Amotekun Corps last year in the South West region to help tackle criminal elements in the state. Categories of officers to be recruitment included regular officers, intelligence Corps and volunteers. Commander of the Corps, Chief Tunji Adeleye, in a statement said interested applicants must be between 20 and 70 years. The Amotekun Corps had helped to stem the tide of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
