NDDC Orders Contractors Back to Site

The Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), Mr. Efiong Akwa, has ordered contractors handling its projects to return to site immediately and complete their work. Akwa gave the order while inspecting  the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, at Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A statement signed by the commission’s Director, Corporate Affairs, Ibitoye Abosede,  said Akwa explained that the commission would not go back on the regional hospital project because of its strategic importance. He promised to pay for the milestones already achieved by the contractor to ensure the completion of the project. NBA Faults Extension of IGP’s Tenure

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has faulted the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu. The association has consequently sued at the Federal High Court in Lagos to compel the a reversal of the purported tenure extension. The suit, marked: FHC/L/CS/214/2021 has as defendants: the President, Federal Republic of. Nigeria; the Police Service Commission (PSC) and Mohammed Abubakar Adamu. The NBA’s contention, in the suit is that the IGP ceased to be a member of the Nigeria Police Force when he attained the milestone of thirty-five years of service. “Therefore, the President’s extension of Mr Adamu’s tenure by three months, in the NBA’s respectful view, is unconstitutional.”

BREAKING: Herdsmen Kill Two, Set Amotekun Vehicle Ablaze in Ondo

No fewer than two persons reportedly lost their lives when some suspected herdsmen attacked the men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps. The incident occurred on Thursday in Sanusi Village, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State. It was gathered that those who lost their lives were a farmer and a member of a vigilante group whose identities were yet unknown as of the time of filing this report. Man Excretes 86 Wraps of Cocaine at Abuja Airport

A suspected drug trafficker intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, has excreted 86 wraps of cocaine, according to the agency. NDLEA’s spokesperson, Jonah Achema, said the suspect, Oluchukwu Onu Friday, aged 39, was arrested during the outward clearance of India bound Ethiopian Airline ET910 en route Abuja-Addis Ababa-New Delhi. Achema, in a statement on Saturday, said, Onu, a native of Umuaku-Isiochi village in Abia State, was intercepted at the boarding gate screening and referred for scanning where he proved positive for ingestion.
