Judicial Panels Must Investigate Lekki Shooting, Ensure Accountability for Crime – UK

The United Kingdom has called for the probe of the shooting at Lekki Toll Gate area of Lagos and other related incidents that occurred during the #EndsARS protests. Security forces had opened fire at peaceful demonstrators at the Lekki toll gate areas after protesters had camped there for weeks demanding for an end to police brutality and a reform of the force. The United Kingdom High Commission in Nigeria disclosed in a tweet on its verified Twitter handle on Monday that perpetrators of crimes must be brought to book. Lekki Shooting: Fashola Discovers Camera at Shooting Area

Former governor of Lagos state and Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has discovered a camera at the Lekki Toll Gate Area of Lagos, site of the shooting that took place last week. The minister made the discovery while touring areas rocked by violence during a solidary visit to the governor of Lagos state, Babjide Sanwo-Olu. #ENDSARS: Lagos State Govt. Sets up Panel of Enquiry for Victims

Lagos State Government has set up a panel of enquiry for victims of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) related abuses and Lekki Toll Gate incident. According to a press statement released by the Secretary, Lagos SARS Panel, Mr. Babajide Boys, members of the public are to submit memoranda at the public sitting of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution set up by the state government. According to Babajide, the new venue for the sitting is ‘Lagos Court of Arbitration, 1A Remi Oluwole St. 2 Roundabout, Lekki Expressway, Lekki Phase 1, Estate, Lagos. “Days of sitting include Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and the time of sitting is 10am – 4pm.” Memoranda submission can be done at the venue to the Registrar or through the email judicialpanelonsars @lagosstate.gov.ng.

TVC Resumes broadcast After Being Vandalised

Following a four days hiatus due to an attack of its headquarters in Lagos by irate youths, Television Continental (TVC) has resumed broadcasting. A group of angry youths had attacked TVC’s headquarters at Ketu on Wednesday, wrecking its facilities thereby taking the station off air. The attack was part of destruction that took place after security operatives opened fire at peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate area on Tuesday.
