Raheem: Court To Commence Killer Cop’s Trial Monday

A Lagos State High Court has scheduled Monday (today) to commence the trial of ASP Drambi Vandi, who allegedly killed a Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs Omobolanle Raheem. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Vandi who was attached to Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah area of Lagos State, allegedly shot and killed Raheem while she was returning from church service with her family on Christmas Day. The lawyer was killed at Ajah, Lagos State. Nigerian Man Sues Malaysia Govt N406m For Unlawful Detention

A Nigerian man identified as Simon Mamoh, has filed a N406 million suit against the Director-General of Malaysia Immigration Department, Khairul Dzaimee Daud, and three others for alleged unlawful detention and deportation. Mamoh alleges that Malaysian immigration department detained him illegally for 40 days before ordering his deportation from Malaysia to Nigeria. The Nigerian in a lawsuit filed in the High Court of Shah Alam on January 10, listed the compensations being sought to include RM2 million in general damages at a rate of RM50,000 for each day of his unlawful detention, which lasted from March 15, 2021, till April 23, 2021. The London metropolitan police have opened up on the incident involving the founder of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi. A report by Punch stated that an email from the London Police confirmed a “71-year-old man” was nabbed on an allegation of rape at Heathrow Airport on Sunday. According to the police, the rape allegation took place in August 2019, and the date for further probe into the case has been fixed for early April. A cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, has been found guilty of blasphemy by a Kano Upper Shari’a court. He was charged over alleged blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad. The charges were brought against him by the government of Kano State. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has said that Nigerian music star, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has been released but that investigation will continue. Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has withdrawn the case against Aminu Adamu, a 500-level student of the Federal University, Dutse. The 24-year-old student was arrested by the police in Dutse for allegedly posting a defamatory tweet on his Twitter handle against the First Lady. Adamu, a student of Environmental Management, was alleged to have posted a plump picture of Aisha Buhari with a caption in Hausa, translated to mean, “Mama is feeding fat on poor people’s money.” He tweeted on June 8, 2022. A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court on Tuesday remanded a 500-level student of the Federal University, Dutse, Aminu Muhammad, in a custodial centre for allegedly criticing the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari. Tiktokers To Be Flogged In Kano For Defaming Ganduje

The Kano State Magistrates’ Court in its ruling on Monday ordered the flogging of two comedians identified as Mubarak Muhammad, and Zazifi Bala, for abusing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on their Tiktok handles. According to Magistrate Aminu Gabari, in his ruling on Monday, the duo should be given 20 lashes for their offense and will sweep and wash toilets in the surroundings of the court for a period of 30 days. The Magistrate ordered that the individuals be publicly flogged. The convicts were also ordered to pay a fine of N10,00 each for defaming Ganduje and a further N10,00 for causing public disturbance.
