Sunday Igboho Released From Benin Prison

Popular activist, Sunday Igboho has been released. According to Maxwell Adeleye, a spokesman for Igboho, the Yoruba separatist has been set free from the custody of Benin Republic authorities. In a statement on Facebook on Monday morning, Adeleye wrote: "Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called Sunday Ighoho, has been released by the Government of Republic of Benin." "The Activist was released on Monday to a Yoruba Leader and Leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye and a French Language Expert/ Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran." Court Grants Abba Kyari Permission to Treat Diabetes, Others

Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, turned down the bail application filed by the detained former Commander of the Intelligence Response Team, Force Intelligence Bureau of the Nigeria Police Force, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari. Kyari is in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency over an alleged involvement in illicit drug business. Delivering judgment in the bail application, which was moved by his counsel, Cynthia Ikenna, the judge said the application had been overtaken by the order of the court given on February 22, which permitted the NDLEA to detain Kyari for another 14 days. “My Health Has Deteriorated” – Abba Kyari Says As Court Refuses To Release Him

Embattled Police Officer, Abba kyari has claimed that his health has deteriorated badly since his detention by the National Drug law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. It was gathered that Kyari, a deputy commissioner of Police, dragged the Federal Government to court seeking his release. it would be recalled that Kyari was arrested last week and handed over to the NDLEA over his involvement in Cocaine Trafficking. Supreme Court Declares Executive Order 10 Unconstitutional

The Supreme Court has declared as unlawful and unconstitutional the Executive Order 10 (EO10) issued by President Muhammadu Buhari on the funding of State Judiciary and Legislature. In a split decision on Friday, majority of the court’s seven-member panel agreed that the President exceeded his constitutional powers in issuing the EO10. Six out of the seven members of the panel proceeded to void and set aside the EO10. The majority decision also held that it was not the responsibility of the Federal Government to fund the capital and recurrent expenditures of the superior courts created for States under Section six of the Constitution. The United States attorney’s office at the central district of California says Ramon Abbas, the self-confessed Nigerian serial fraudster better known as Hushpuppi, will be sentenced on Valentine Day’s morning. According to BBC Pidgin, the court’s Director of Media Relations, Thom Mrozek, said Hushpuppi has been scheduled for sentencing on February 14. “The court has scheduled the case of Mr. Abbas for sentencing on February 14, 2022,” Mrozek said. The Nigeria Union of Journalists has condemned security agents over attacks on journalists and activists during the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Wednesday. In a statement by Emmanuel Ogbeche and Ochiaka Ugwu, chairman and secretary respectively, the group described the attack as reprehensible and posing a grave danger to the safety of journalists and democracy.
