Nigerian singer Burnaboy has disclosed that he was relieved when he was announced as the winner of the best global music album award at the Grammys. He also maintained that he deserved to win the prestigious award. In an interview with BBC Africa, he said, “I felt very relieved because I deserved it. If I did not get it, I was hoping a situation would not happen where I would not get what I deserved. Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has congratulated music stars Burna Boy and Wizkid over their victory at the Grammy Awards. In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as fitting rewards for the persistent hardwork of the duo. He said the awards also represented a global endorsement for the Afrobeat genre of music that has propelled Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world. Popular Nollywood actor Dan Nkoloagu has died, African News Today has gathered. The veteran actor’s death was announced by his son Dan Nkoloagu Junior on Facebook on January 23, 2021. According to his son, he died on 22nd of January. He wrote, “It was a black Friday for us yesterday as my Dad left us without saying goodbye.” The actor died aged 83.
