Ondo2020: INEC to Adopt No-face-mask-no-voting  

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce no-face-mask-no-voting rule in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State. The PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu said this during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday. Aliyu expressed the determination of the taskforce to ensure that elections are conducted under safe environment. He said that Ondo state boasts of over 1.5 million prospective voters in 3,000 polling units which makes the election a huge exercise which would also come with its risk.   The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, is currently at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission where he is responding to questions bothering on his alleged involvement in fraud. The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, told the Punch newspaper that Obasa was invited and he honoured the invitation at the Lagos zonal office of the commission on Thursday. “He was invited, not arrested. The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has terminated the appointment of a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Kelani Ajadi Omotoso, for alleged sexual misconduct. INEC Office Fire Outbreak: Ondo Police Launches Investigation

Following the fire outbreak at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Akure, Ondo State, Police has launched an investigation to unravel circumstances leading to the incident. No fewer than 5,000 Smart Card Readers stored in a container inside the INEC office were destroyed during the fire that took place on Thursday. Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Bolaji Salami during his visit to the INEC office for an on-scene assessment said pledged to bring any individual involved in the fire to justice. "We want to promise all law-abiding citizens of the state not to entertain any fear as we have begun our investigation. "Our command is fully prepared to give maximum police protection before, during and even after the election," he said.

Soldiers Kill Benue’s Wanted Militia Leader, Gana

The Commander of the Four Special Forces command, Doma, Nasarawa State, Maude Ali Gadzama on Tuesday confirmed the killing of Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Gana who had been declared wanted in Benue state. Gadzama said Gana was gunned down in a fire fight with military personnel along Gbese-Gboko road. Recall the Benue State Government had in 2015, offered Gana amnesty along with about 500 people but most of them returned to their alleged criminal activities. Case pending before two courts, letter has not reached me – Nwaoboshi The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has hit back at the Nigerian Senate, asking Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger-Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, to refund N2.5n for contracts his companies failed to deliver. The commission failed to mention the names of the concerned firms in the letter written to the lawmaker. The commission gave Nwaoboshi a two weeks ultimatum to refund the funds to its account.
