Nigeria Police Force Warns Against Protests in Lagos

The police in Lagos said on Thursday said it would not entertain any demonstration or protest anywhere in the state. The warning came as some groups are hatching plans to begin “the mother of all protest” across the country to drive home their demands against police brutality, bad governance and insecurity. Lagos police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the command received intelligence on another planned protest. Stop the Killings in Oyigbo, Rivers State – Amnesty International Tells Nigerian Military

Amnesty International, a global human rights body has asked the Military to exercise restraint and stop the alleged killings taking place in Oyigbo, Rivers State. The Police force in Edo State has freed an 11-year-old boy identified as Gift Osayuhi who was arrested last week over alleged involvement in the attack of a police station in the state. Osayuhi was arrested for taking part in the attack of Oba Market Police Station at Evbuotubu area of Benin City by hoodlums. Seven Men Remanded by Court for Gang-raping Minor to Death

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ebute Meta Lagos, on Friday, ordered seven men who allegedly gang-raped a minor to death, be remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre. The police charged Ajom Tabi, 37; Omobolanle Olowookere, 41; Aliu Bilyamin, 24; Emmanuel Okon, 24; Bolarinwa Olamilekan, 24; Badmus Abdulateef, 20; Azeez Quadri, 22; and Sunday Odunayo, 22 with three counts of rape, murder and defilement. Chief Magistrate O.G. Oghre did not take the plea of the suspects pending legal advice. The magistrate admitted the second suspect Olowookere to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties each in like sum after her counsel, Spurgeon Ataene, told the court of her non- involvement in the case.
