Arson: INEC Set to Meet Security Chiefs As 21 Offices Are Razed

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is set to meet heads of security agencies this week as part of efforts to forestall the rising attacks on its offices in some part of the country. Reports say the meeting with security agencies will be held after a meeting of the resident electoral commissioners of the electoral umpire on Wednesday. This was disclosed by a top official of the commission in the wake of the hiked spate of attacks on INEC’s office which has risen to 21 on Sunday night with the recent attack on the Enugu State headquarters of the commission, Punch reports. Officers of the Imo State Police Command have arrested four suspects on the suspicion of razing the Okigwe South Area Police Command headquarters. Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed three officials of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in Isiokpo community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. Prior to killing the NCS operatives, attacked a military checkpoint within Omuaga axis of Elele-Owerre, close to the Port Harcourt International Airport, Daily Post reports. Nigerian Man, Omotola Hassan Arrested With Cocaine In India

The Pune police have arrested a Nigerian man for possession of cocaine valued at ₹4 lakh, in Kondhwan on Wednesday. The alleged peddler was identified as Shamsuddin Omotola Hassan, aged 48, SaharaReporters reports. Police say the Lagos State indigene intended to sell the drugs. Authorities valued the drugs in his possession at about ₹4,16,000. Along with the drugs, the police found five mobile phones worth ₹15,000; one Yamaha motorcycle worth ₹50,000; the cash of ₹20,000; and a weighing scale worth ₹1,000. The total seizure was estimated to be worth ₹5,02,000. The 48-year-old was found at the gate of Brookefield Society when the crime branch officials were patrolling the Kondhwa area at 2:50 am on Wednesday.
