Gunmen kidnap Councillor in A’Ibom

Police on Tuesday confirmed the kidnap of Mr Samuel Ben, councillor representing Ward 6 Central in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket. Federal investigators with the Department of Justice say 35 people in North Texas are accused of conducting romance schemes to defraud and steal money from older adult Americans. Officials with the U.S. Attorney's Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the FBI announced a multi-year investigation into a wide-ranging criminal enterprise operating out of North Texas. Operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a self-acclaimed spiritualist, Mohammed Ibrahim, and his accomplice, Ibrahim Abubakar for allegedly defrauding one Mohammed Gaji of the sum of N16, under the guise of conducting spiritual prayers to make him (Gaji) rich, IgbereTV reports. The CBN in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja said engaging the security authorities has become necessary following the circulation of fake news by individuals using CBN circular and logo. A lawyer attached to the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT), Nosa Uhumwangho, has explained how the embattled 'Super Cop', Abba Kyari, made him pay the proceed from a hotel owned by an alleged kidnap kingpin into his account. Uhumwangho stated this while appearing before the Nigerian Bar Association Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) on Wednesday. Gunmen Attack Bullion Van In Ondo, Kill Two Policemen

Two mobile policemen and one civilian have been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers in a bullion van attack in Ondo State. The attack occurred on Wednesday evening in the Costain axis within the commercial town of Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The attack was coming barely two weeks after a bullion van was also attacked in the Emure-Ile axis of the state by robbers. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested here armed bandits on an alleged mission Katsina State. The suspects: Adamu Shehu, Tukur Mohammed, and Ibrahim Suleiman were reportedly in possession of three AK-47 rifles and other dangerous items. Gov. Abiodun’s Aide, Abidemi Rufai Reportedly Stole $350,000 From US Government

Abidemi Rufai, the suspended Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, allegedly defrauded Washington State Employment Security Department using 10 different means, a court document has revealed. In the document, Rufai was said to have submitted over 100 claims to the Washington Employment Department, and had also submitted additional claims to the state workforce agencies for other states. The Nigerian reportedly carried out the scheme by using the stolen identities of American workers. “In so doing, Rufai caused and attempted to cause, the Employment Security Department to pay out federal and other unemployment benefits in excess of $350,000, and fraudulently caused other states to pay out additional benefit payments,” part of the document reads.
