Nigeria has kept their hope for a second round qualification alive by beating Iceland 2:0. Both Nigerian goals came in the first half courtesy of Ahmed Musa. He scored the 49th minute and the second in the 75th minute.

Playing a different formation from the formation that saw them lose 2:0 to Croatia, the Nigerian team played with more purpose and could have scored more goals. Iceland however missed a penalty that was awarded courtesy of the VAR.

With this result, Nigeria is now second on the group with 3 points while Iceland is third with 1 point and a -2 goals difference. Argentina is at the bottom of the group with 1 point and a -3 goals difference. Croatia has already qualified and any of the remaining three teams in the group can still qualify.
