NFF to face Potential Sanction by FIFA Over Contract Breach

The Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, has been directed by FIFA to pay ex-Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr a compensation fee of $378,000 over a contract breach. The Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, has demanded that Rohr be paid a compensation fee after the former Nigeria National team coach protested to the football governing body about a breach in his contract by the NFF. Sports: Athletes to the Africa Senior Athletic Championship Asaba Stranded In Lagos Airport

Several athletes arriving in Nigeria to take part in the Africa Senior Athletic Championship are stranded at Murtala Muhammad Airport in the main city of Lagos and at Asaba airport, 500km south of the capital, Abuja. The games officially start on Wednesday in Asaba, Delta state, but the news ahead of the event has been dominated by the travel mishap. Participants from Burundi, Kenya, Eritrea and Burkina Faso, remain stranded at the airport in Lagos. Some lucky athletes, who managed to bypass the travel problems, have been training at the event's venue. At least 52 teams confirmed participation at the event. World Cup: Nigeria Keeps Hope Alive, Wins Iceland 2:0

Nigeria has kept their hope for a second round qualification alive by beating Iceland 2:0. Both Nigerian goals came in the first half courtesy of Ahmed Musa. He scored the 49th minute and the second in the 75th minute. Playing a different formation from the formation that saw them lose 2:0 to Croatia, the Nigerian team played with more purpose and could have scored more goals. Iceland however missed a penalty that was awarded courtesy of the VAR.
