The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Officials discovered a newborn baby abandoned in a refuse dump in a street in IKoyi, Lagos State.

The LAWMA officials filed a report to the Ikoyi police division on the discovery of an abandoned baby at about 10 am.
Acting on the report, a police team visited the scene and took the infant to a Military Hospital at Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi.
The baby was sent to a motherless baby home in the city after medical treatment.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the baby was retrieved on Thursday and is doing fine after medical treatment.
He also said the police had started an investigation adding that infanticide is a crime and punishable under law, noting the act infringes Section 327A of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria.
