Pastor Adeboye Denies Telling Christians to Own Firearms

Renowned cleric, Pastor Adeboye has been accused of asking Christians to possess guns in order to combat gunmen and terrorists.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, The founder and president of the Redeemed Christian church of God, debunked the claims of asking his members to buy guns for self-defense against insecurity thriving in Nigeria.

He further mentioned that at no instance did he advocate that his members own weapons such as firearms.
The clergyman made this known, when the media misquoted his statement “fire-for-fire” on attacks against Christians, amidst the incident of the owo massacre.

“I never asked Christians to go and buy guns. Samson in the Bible did not fight with guns,”
“unwanted visitors don’t come to our churches. So, don’t go and buy guns.”

The popular pastor mentioned this on his live television broadcast in his church yesterday.
On the live broadcast, pastor Adeboye also mentioned that worshippers should not be afraid to attend church services because of the unjustified killings of worshippers at the St. Francis Catholic Church, which happened on the 5th of June, last month.
