Disu Takes Over From Kyari at IRT
Inspector General of Police (IG) Alkali Baba Usman has appointed Mr. Tunji Disu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), as the new head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
Disu’s posting, the IG said, is on the heels of management’s decision to fill the leadership gap within the IRT and refocus the Unit for better service delivery.
The appointment followed the suspension of Mr. Abba Kyari, (also a DCP) on the orders of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Kyari, who was until Saturday, the IRT head, was asked to step aside to pave the way for a probe into his alleged role in the internet fraud perpetrated by Rahman Abba (a.ka. Hushpuppi).
