Lagos Transport Worker Stabs Colleague To Death

Ibrahim Yahaya, a transport worker in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State has allegedly stabbed his colleague, Kabiru Abdullahi, to death during an argument that ensued at the Kanuri Motor Park. Yahaya and Kabiru were at the park when an argument ensued between them, Punch reports. The misunderstanding between the duo reportedly degenerated into a fight and in the process, Kabiru brought out a knife and allegedly stabbed Yahaya’s head. Jamaica has announced that it plans to import vehicles from Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing in Nigeria. This was disclosed on Saturday by the Jamaican High Commissioner to Nigeria, Esmond Reid during a facility tour of IVM plant in Nnewi, Anambra State. NRC Suspends Warri-Itakpe Train Service As Train Derails

The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has announced the suspension of rail service along the Warri-Itakpe rail line after a train derailed at kilometre 30 Ajaokuta-Itakpe section of the track. This was contained in a statement issued by the coordinator, Warri-Itakpe train service, Sanni Abdulganiyu, on Sunday. The development comes two weeks after gunmen stormed a train station in Edo state and kidnapped several passengers. However, state authorities say most of those kidnapped have been rescued.   Abdulganiyu in the statement said the train derailed at about 12:30 pm with about 148 passengers and 30 crew members on board. The convoy of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was involved in an auto crash on Friday as many people including two Benue State House of Assembly members sustained injury. NRC Announces Indefinite Suspension of Edo Train Service Over Abduction

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has announced an indefinite shutdown of Ekehen Station in Edo State.   It said the decision was reached due to security challenges. The development happens barely one year after the March 28, 2022 attack by suspected terrorists on the Abuja-Kaduna train, which culminated in the death of about 14 passengers while 65 others were kidnapped. Second Niger Bridge To be Opened For 30 Days

The Federal Government has directed the opening of the Second Niger Bridge for use during the yuletide to ear traffic in the South-East region. The bridge was formerly opened in the late hours of Thursday. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who issued the directive on Wednesday at the inauguration of the bridge, stated that it will be opened for a period of one month during the festive period. NRC Increases Fares On Lagos-Ibadan Train Service Over Diesel Cost

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has disclosed that the fares for Lagos-Ibadan and Lagos-Abeokuta train have been reviewed upwards. Recall that the NRC had in August announced a reduction in the number of trips on the Lagos-Ibadan route due to an increase in the cost of diesel. IGP Deploys Armed Officers As Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Restarts Monday

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba has directed the deployment of armed operatives to secure the Abuja-Kaduna train services. This was contained in a statement issued by the force spokesperson, Oluwuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday. Adejobi said the personnel would be drawn from the police mobile force, K-9force intelligence bureau, explosive ordinance unit, and railway police command.
